We currently have an opportunity for a Chief Estimator in Lisle, IL. The primary objective of this position is to work as part of an estimating team focused on Heavy Highway Construction. This position is a leadership position and will be part of the senior management team of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of Estimating process
- Conduct thorough analysis of drawings and specifications, ensuring required information is provided.
- Perform detailed project cost estimate using estimating software such as HCSS.
- Research selected products from a cost and constructability perspective.
- Solicit sub-contractor pricing and bids for different trades in preparation of cost estimate.
- Review progress and construction documents for constructability. Lead and participate in discussion regarding alternate detail and materials for specific areas or trades.
- Provide and present value engineering options and costs.
- Provide and present estimating productions and scheduling.
- Coordinate administrative staff in sending documents to vendors.
Qualifications:
- College degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
- Minimum 10+ years’ heavy civil estimating experience
- Substantial construction experience and / or engineering background
- Have a thorough understanding of construction means and methods.
- Local knowledge of the industry.
- Must be fluent in English – written and oral.
Skills:
- Highly proficient in selected software (Excel, Word, Outlook) HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software and P6 a plus.
- Ability to make decisions, work independently and coordinate estimating colleagues.
- Ability to meet critical project deadline, willingness to coordinate and work as a team member.
