POSITION SUMMARY
The Director- Business Development is responsible for directing and coordinating the promotion and management of the Company's products and/or services in the field by performing the following duties within their territory.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)
- Generate new business leads through prospecting, cold-calling, and face-to-face meetings. Utilize strong interpersonal skills when negotiating contracts and/or bids and building long-term relationships with potential external partners and/or customers.
- Participate with other directors/senior directors and/or the Vice President of Sales, Americas to establish strategic plans and objectives in the Southwest region of the US.
- Call on prospective accounts, provide technical and administrative product information, coordinate presentations, and support proposal generation. Prepare client-specific presentations and other data to respond to client needs.
- Support management in determining service viability to include: Work with internal teams to translate client needs and expectations into reality; develop industry knowledge and maintain awareness of industry trends; perform other duties as assigned by management to meet business changes.
- Function independently to influence the decision-making process of potential clients and develop strategies which anticipate client objections or ambivalence.
- Ensure that sales targets are achieved by maintaining sales networking and client development activities.
- Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
- Provide current and historical records by maintaining records on potential customers and projects.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Assist the VP- Business Development, Americas in identifying market potential by identifying client requirements; defining market, competitors' share, and competitors' advantages and weaknesses; forecasting projected business; establishing targeted Company share.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge; establish personal networks; and participate in relative business professional societies.
- Participate in self-development activities and training of others.
- Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
- Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- BS/MS in a business or scientific discipline.
- Understanding of the requirements and specifications in the logistics field.
- A minimum of fifteen years sales/program management related experience in logistics/healthcare field.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Proven problem solver and independent thinker.
- Business background, a plus.
Language/Communication Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Work with Salesforce CMS and be familiar with Microsoft Excel.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
