About this role
As an IT Engineer at Astronomer, you will power the technology infrastructure that makes business possible for a 300 person company in the data engineering space. Through leveraging automation and integration tools (Okta Workflows, pre-existing and custom APIs, etc.), you will play a key role in speeding up the success of our company by shifting our IT organization from manual to automated processes.
Our IT team is still relatively small, which means you’ll have direct relationships with IT leadership to evaluate current systems and propose solutions. You will be a key technical resource, providing advice, training, and technical support to people across the organization, in functions as diverse as sales operations, product management, and site reliability (among others).
What you get to do:
- Strategize for, set up, and maintain integrations and workflows that automate our core business processes and build operational capacity for the business (Okta and Okta Workflows).
- Evaluate and administer applications, software, and cloud platforms in partnership with business leads.
- Provide technical assistance, support, and troubleshooting in a professional and timely manner via a ticketing system for the IT helpdesk.
- Document processes both for the IT department and company at large.
- Create purchase orders for IT equipment (computers, computer/home office accessories, software tools) and manage purchase process with an external hardware vendor.
- Ensure timely onboarding and offboarding of employees, working with HR and the manager to ensure employees have everything they need to perform their job responsibilities.
What you bring to the role:
- Extensive experience with managing hardware, software, and related technologies.
- Knowledge of IT vendor management.
- Solid knowledge of best practices in IT, Systems, and SaaS Operations.
- Strong documentation and user training skills.
- Proven ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for driving technical projects.
- Independence, and the ability to own and execute tasks and workflows.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience managing Windows and Intune.
- Located in the Bay Area.
Bonus points if you have:
- 5+ years of experience in IT in an engineering or senior support role (or equivalent).
- ITIL or CompTIA certification(s).
- Experience with Okta in general and implementing Okta Workflows in particular.
- Startup experience or experience at a SaaS company.
- Experience in GCP, AWS, and Azure.
The estimated salary for this role ranges from $125,000 - $165,000, along with an equity component. This range is merely an estimate, and the width of the range reflects willingness to consider candidates with differing prior seniority. Actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
