The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Senior Information Systems Specialist in the Department of Information Technology! In this role, you will support a variety of initiatives in connection with the City's Digital Strategic Plan, the Berkeley Resilience Strategy, and other long-term goals. You'll partner with staff from various City departments to assess hardware and software needs and develop innovative and intuitive solutions.
As part of the IT Department, you'll join a dynamic team and serve as the technical authority in networking, virtual server management, Voice Over IP, disaster recovery, infrastructure and application security, cloud virtualization, Active Directory administration, Office 365 apps, and Intune Desktop and mobile device management. This position is at the forefront of ensuring the City's technology ecosystem operates efficiently, securely, and with the highest levels of performance.
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major coursework in computer science, mathematics, business or public administration, or a field related to the department to which assigned, and two (2) years of experience in developing and modifying microcomputer applications.
Experience in computer operations, data entry or control or in an office support position using computer techniques may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.
In addition to the qualifications mentioned above, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience with Cisco routers and switches, LAN/WAN, MPLS, VLANs and QOS in a large-scale infrastructure
- Virtual server management (including Nutanix and VMware Hyperconverged technologies)
- Disaster and Recovery (experience with DRAAS technologies like Rubrik/Cohesity)
- Security tools (experience with MFA, ATP, CrowdStrike, VPNs, WAFs and NACs)
- VOIP network support
- Cloud virtualization and storage (experience with Azure/AWS)
- Active Directory administration in a Hybrid AD/Azure environment, O365 services including Email and Intune
- Next Generation Firewalls (experience with firewalls like Palo Alto and Fortinet)
