Job Overview
The Sr. Manager, Data Solutions is a key role within Macy's Digital-Marketing data solutions organization having responsibilities for managing complex data solutions delivery, key data feed integrations with business vendors, managing relationships with business stakeholders, and managing a team of technical analysts. The Manager will interact with marketing, digital leadership and stakeholders to understand business strategy and provide efficient data solutions to support business operation and growth. The Partner integration responsibility entails working closely with business owners and product teams to gather requirements and working with the technical engineering team to manage a large number of time-sensitive and critical data feed deliveries to partners supporting business operation and marketing. Managing data solutions requires being engaged in end-to-end solution development and delivery process requiring technical skills and ETL/data warehousing experience. In this hands-on management role, the manager will also have ownership and accountability for data quality, process improvement and customer communication.
For this key role, we are seeking a self-driven individual with proven experience in hands-on data analysis, delivering analytics solutions, identifying new opportunities with systems and processes improvements and ensuring cross-functional work effort supports the overall business vision and strategy. This individual must demonstrate leadership, strategic vision, technical expertise, project management, strong communication capabilities, and the ability to guide and mentor technical team members.
This role reports to Director, Analytic Platform and Solutions.
What You Will Do
- Delivery of Analytics and data integration solutions, including leading functional requirements and data/product quality.
- Under leadership guidance, establish data solutions roadmap and priorities.
- Manage and mentor business systems analysts, Quality assurance analysts (QA) and define processes for requirement gathering, communication and validating data quality.
- Work closely with external business vendors and internal business teams to deliver and enhance time-sensitive critical data feeds.
- Coordinate and collaborate with both internal and external support teams to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve any-and-all reported issues throughout the entire data process flow: database compilation and accuracy, data feed setup and composition, data feed delivery, platform errors and issues, and ad information published on third party sites.
- Hands-on experience with analyzing complex data, understanding SQL code, participate in ETL solution design, delivery and managing UI tools for data feed integration.
- Accountable for continuous business operations, issue resolution and end user support.
- Partner with key business stakeholders and business user teams to provide trusted thought leadership and provide solution leadership.
- Collaborate with internal technical teams, product teams and business users to deliver impactful solutions.
- Assist business stakeholders in prioritizing project work, articulate clear prioritization and business justification to engineering teams and convey IT constraints and dependencies to business users.
- Work with enterprise data governance teams to establish data management strategy across external and internal sources.
Skills You Will Need
CRM Expertise: In-depth knowledge of CRM technologies, including marketing automation platforms (SAS MA/MO), email service providers (ESPs), customer data platforms (CDPs), and complex data structures.
Roadmap Development: Proven track record of defining and managing successful roadmaps for marketing operations, systems integration, and customer communication.
Process Optimization: Ability to identify and drive efficiency improvements by reviewing processes, creating automation, and optimizing workflows with new systems and tools.
Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate openly and continuously, keeping stakeholders informed and effectively presenting information clearly and concisely.
Leadership: Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the capability to work collaboratively across functional lines and at various organizational levels.
Creative and Strategic Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to develop innovative solutions.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office applications, essential for reporting and data analysis.
Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee implementation, track program status, and manage priorities effectively.
Team Building: Experience in building, inspiring, and managing teams, with a focus on career development, project management, and workload prioritization.
Who You Are
- BA/BS Degree is required. Master's Degree is strongly desired.
- 3-4+ years of supervisory experience managing analytics and BI technology teams.
- Experience managing and developing teams within a large-scale enterprise setting.
- Hands-on experience with writing SQL for analyzing and extracting data.
- Proven competence with development methodologies, business process management, QA fundamentals, process documentation, and project management.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills to efficiently articulate requirements and work closely with business and technical partners.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional team efforts to achieve project success.
- Proven ability to build teams and develop talent.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize efforts and maximize the value of allocated resources.
