Agency Marketing Statement: The Civil Rights Division (Division) of the Department of Justice, created by the enactment of the Civil Rights Act of 1957, works to uphold the civil and constitutional rights of all Americans, particularly some of the most vulnerable members of our society. The Division is primarily responsible for enforcing federal statutes and executive orders that prohibit unlawful discrimination in various areas. Most jobs in the Division offer flexible work options and other family-friendly opportunities.
Major Duties:
- Reviews, processes, and prepares documents covering diverse and complex legal issues.
- Prepares correspondence, memoranda, justification, and other written documentation involved in providing information about the researched aspects of the cases.
- Reviews and analyzes investigative reports to determine if a particular case is supported by sufficient evidence.
- Conducts legal research of substantial variety and complexity.
- Conducts or assists attorneys in conducting interviews with investigative sources and prospective witnesses.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- DOJ uses E-Verify to confirm the eligibility of all newly hired employees to work in the United States.
- You may be required to complete a pre-employment security screening.
- This is a term appointment. The initial term appointment will not exceed 13 months, with potential extensions up to a 4-year limit.
