Being on the Ford Model E team means building the future as Ford’s center of innovation and growth through electric and connected vehicles and services.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electronic Brake Booster (EBB) Integration Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the integration, calibration, and validation of electronic brake booster systems across various vehicle platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that EBB systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, enhancing overall braking performance and vehicle safety.
Responsibilities
What you’ll be able to do:
- System Integration: Integrate electronic brake booster systems into vehicle platforms, ensuring compatibility with other vehicle systems such as powertrain and chassis. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams to seamlessly integrate EBB hardware and software components.
- Calibration and Tuning: Develop and refine calibration parameters for optimal brake booster performance under different driving conditions. Adjust system settings to balance braking performance, pedal feel, and driver comfort.
- Software and Controls Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of control algorithms for electronic brake boosters. Ensure control software is properly calibrated and optimized to deliver consistent and reliable braking performance.
- Design: Work with the design and development engineers throughout the engineering organization to ensure brake assist functions and components have appropriate requirements and interface definition to achieve their specific vehicle functions.
- Functional Safety: Participate in functional safety and failure avoidance analysis of complex electrical and software vehicle subsystems (HARA, FMEAs, etc.).
- Verification: Create and own brakes HIL test setups to bench test firmware seeking bugs and regressions. Proficient with D-space, Vector HIL, CAPL and python scripting.
- Testing and Validation: Design and execute comprehensive (incl regression) test plans for electronic brake booster systems, including lab-based and real-world vehicle testing. Analyze test data to identify performance issues and develop solutions to improve system functionality.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with vehicle dynamics, safety, and systems engineering teams to ensure brake assist integration aligns with overall vehicle performance goals. Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on brake assist system integration.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure that brake systems meet all relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement fail-safe strategies to maintain basic braking capabilities in case of system failures. Participate with development of prototype vehicle training.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in electronic brake booster technology and integrate innovative solutions into vehicle systems. Propose and implement improvements to enhance the reliability, performance, and user experience of brake systems.
- Documentation and Reporting: Write system requirements, document all integration and calibration processes, test results, and system configurations. Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders and management to showcase progress and maturity at various program milestones.
