The research management team ensures that Cure Alzheimer's portfolio of funded projects meets its mission goals, that its external scientific leadership has the right information to make the best possible decisions, and that its generous donor community and the public is kept well-informed.
Job Description:
The director, grants management, will report directly to the EVP of Research Management. They will be responsible for managing and communicating all aspects of the research funding process: identifying research and researchers with strong potential for transformative ideas, guiding them through the letter of intent and application submission process, matching invited proposals with expert scientific reviewers, and tracking research progress and impact post-award.
Other Key Responsibilities
- Communicating how and what we fund with CureAlz staff, lay and scientific audiences.
- Working with external scientists as applicants, reviewers and direction setters.
- Facilitating collaborations and connections between funded researchers.
- Staying current with—and communicate to various audiences—the overall landscape of Alzheimer’s disease-related research and treatment options; including basic, translational, and clinical trial results reported in meetings, scientific publications and the popular press.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This role requires domestic and international travel on an occasional, planned basis, primarily to scientific conferences.
- This role is full-time, but working hours may be flexible depending on circumstances.
- This role can be fully remote or hybrid. It does not require residence in the local area (Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts).
Salary and Benefits:
- Expected annual salary range for this position is $85,000 - $125,000. Final salary and title will be commensurate with experience.
- Employees (and their families) are eligible to enroll in benefits per eligibility rules. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
- Benefits also include a 401K plan, paid time off and 13 holidays per year.

Requirements
- Advanced degree required (PhD) in a field related to neurodegenerative diseases.
- Experience with grant writing and/or grants management preferred.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and flexibility, with an ability to think broadly across disparate areas of science and research.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly and accessibly to scientific and lay audiences in both oral presentations and writing. Examples of your writing or recorded talks may be requested.
- Experience in academic or industry research required - direct experience in drug discovery or translational/clinical research experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with diverse methods and recent technological advances in neuroscience research.
- Ability to think broadly and make connections across the scientific research landscape.
- Commitment to working as part of a team across CureAlz and external partners.
- Strong project and time management skills with the ability to manage competing requests.
- Comfort with remote work and building professional relationships at a distance.
- Drive to find effective treatments for people living with Alzheimer’s disease.
