Senior Traffic Engineer – Transportation Infrastructure
Parsons is now hiring for a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead and support various projects in the New England regions, as well as national projects at times. We are looking for an engineer with an affinity for simulating traffic patterns to alleviate congestion and improve safety on major road and highway transportation projects. You should have extensive experience with Synchro, and preferably VISSIM as well, and think of traffic modeling as more than just a job! This is a hybrid role of working with both traffic systems design engineering, utilizing software such as Synchro and VISSIM, as well as performing geometric road & highway design with Autocad Civil 3D and Microstation.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will perform traffic engineering assignment duties and support roadway geometrics design, and will be involved in:
- Traffic Operations Analysis - Experience with Synchro, HCS and VISSIM (a plus) and their application on freeways, major roads and local roads. In-depth knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual.
- Traffic Signal Design - Experience in the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic signal construction. Experience with Connecticut or Massachusetts DOT projects is a plus. A proficiency in MicroStation CADD software is desirable.
- Signal Timing - Experience with development and implementation of signal timings, including data collection, and programming of signal timings is a plus.
- Signing and Pavement Marking - Experience in the development of roadway marking and highway signage plans, based on MUTCD and state guidelines, is desirable.
- Geometrics alignments and design supporting both state and regional DOT road & highway projects in the area.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
- MS degree with an emphasis in Transportation & traffic engineering highly desirable.
- 8 years or more of experience as a traffic/transportation engineer; experience with hands-on traffic simulation using software programs such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, GuideSign/SignCAD, etc.
- Proficient working knowledge of, and strong hands-on experience with, major types of technical analyses (including traffic impact analyses, safety studies, signal corridor studies, capacity analyses, signal designs).
- Experience with roadway systems design utilizing either Autocad Civil 3D and/or Microstation.

Salary Range:
$81,500.00 - $161,400.00.
