Job Title: Director of Operations
Positions Status: Regular and Full-Time

The Organization:
The Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago (CIOGC) serves as the unifying force that brings together over 400,000 Muslim Americans in the greater Chicago region, and now increasingly all of Illinois. With over 60 member organizations, ranging from Mosques to Islamic schools and community organizations based in the Chicagoland region, the CIOGC is made up of a very large and diverse body. The Council brings these extraordinary communities together in cooperation and collaboration to engage and work with the interfaith community, government, media, and the public in general.
Job Summary:
The Director of Operations plays a critical role in keeping the office and staff functioning smoothly, supporting the Executive Director (ED), serving as a liaison to the CIOGC Board of Directors and helping identify, secure and engage donors and funders.
Essential Job Functions:
Operations
- Manage all office personnel.
- Manage office resources, vendors, technology, and supplies.
- Assist the treasurer in the preparation and submission of proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
- Manage approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
- Work with each committee chair and ED to ensure expenses are in line with the approved budget.
- Coordinate all communications and logistics related to the board and board committees.
Program and Service Delivery
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure resource availability and allocation.
- Develop a detailed project plan to track progress.
- Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
- Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
- Report and escalate to management as needed.
- Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Organizational Development:
- Work with Executive Director (ED) to identify and research potential funding sources.
- Prepare packets, background materials, and research to present to funders and/or board.
- Engage donors and sponsors throughout the year through events and regular communications.
Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate operational risks to protect the organization’s assets and reputation.
- Develop and implement crisis management plans as needed.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Non-profit management or Business Management (master’s degree preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in leadership roles.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Not-for-Profit or faith-based organization experience is preferred but not required.
- Proven experience in operations management, including budgeting, HR, and program delivery.
- Strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within faith-based organizations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, project management tools, and cloud environment for documentation management.
- Understanding of QuickBooks or other bookkeeping/accounting software.
- Knowledge of DonorPerfect and Grant management software tools is preferred.
- Interest and commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of nonprofit organization.
- Knowledge in computer support and operations, preferred.
- Willingness to work at odd times and weekends, and respond to deadlines.

Pay: Up to $70,000.00 per year
