The anticipated salary range for this role is between $213,000.00 and $270,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. Role Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our SMBC Americas Division Compliance Policies Team. As the Head of Compliance Policies, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing a comprehensive framework for policy governance, ensuring our policies meet the highest standards of compliance. Your expertise in drafting and refining compliance policies will be instrumental in fostering a robust compliance culture within our organization.
Role Objectives
- Oversee a governance process for policy creation, approvals, standardization, and periodic reviews.
- Manage team responsible for maintaining and updating Compliance policies and procedures.
- Conduct annual evaluations of current policies, investigate deficiencies, and implement necessary updates.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify and establish new policies, ensuring they are accurate, compliant, and relevant.
- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of policies for SMBC Americas, ensuring accessible and accurate information.
- Maintain and enhance the Policy Management system, ensuring that it meets industry best practice and standards. Manage the creation and distribution of compliance-related communications and training materials, including Compliance Policy Alerts, to inform employees of key policies and changes.
- Partner with the training team to identify and address ongoing training needs related to specific policies, ensuring all employees are well-versed in compliance requirements.
- Advise and work with the Regulatory Change Management team when regulatory developments require new or revised policies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 12 years in a financial services environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required, with advanced degrees in law or related fields desirable.
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to foster consensus and influence others in dynamic environments.
- Excellent project management skills to effectively handle multiple priority projects simultaneously with urgency.
- Knowledge of banking laws and regulations, with strong analytical and reasoning skills.
- Attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, and resourcefulness.
- Sound judgment in handling complex, highly confidential matters with integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on compliance issues.
