NV5, Inc. is seeking a dynamic and ambitious Director of Transportation & Civil Engineering & Business Unit Manager to lead our expanding operations in the Pacific Northwest. This leadership role encompasses strategic thinking, growth-focused management, and technical excellence within a full-service multi-disciplinary engineering team. This position will be based in our Wilsonville, OR, or Vancouver, Seattle, or Bothell, WA office. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in business development, team leadership, and all phases of project development and management, including managing engineering consultants and contractors.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Drive strategic initiatives to achieve business growth and operational excellence.
- Lead and inspire a high-performance team, setting clear goals aligned with NV5's vision and values.
- Collaborate with senior management to leverage National resources for regional success.
Business Development & Client Relations:
- Identify and capitalize on business opportunities, nurturing client relationships for long-term partnerships.
- Work closely with Marketing to create compelling proposals and presentations.
- Represent NV5 at industry events, conferences, and client engagements.
- Build client relationships and lead transportation business development efforts in the Pacific Northwest.
Project Management:
- Establish, maintain, and monitor schedules, budgets, and staffing for projects.
- Oversee and manage NV5 staff and consultants on transportation projects.
- Provide ongoing engineering review and evaluation of designs for compliance with criteria, standards, and specifications.
- Manage extensive close-out project procedures, including working with contractors, purchasing, and financial analysts.
Financial Management:
- Oversee project budgets, ensuring profitability and adherence to financial targets.
- Monitor financial reports and implement strategies for cost optimization and revenue generation.
- Drive efficiency in billing, collections, and resource allocation.
Operational Excellence:
- Implement best practices in project management, quality assurance, and health & safety protocols.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
- Lead by example in promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in transportation engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of previous management experience or 10 years of project management experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of business development experience within the transportation market.
- Previous DOT project experience with local municipalities or other state DOTs.
- Experience in managing projects and leading project teams.
- Knowledge of Civil3D, MicroStation and OpenRoads software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Registered Professional Engineer in Oregon and Washington.
The pay range for this Washington position is $185,000- $210,000 per year; based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. NV5 may provide restricted stock units, sign-on bonuses, stay bonuses, or relocation allowances as part of the compensation package. Medical, dental, and vision insurance are also offered to full-time employees, along with Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts, with employee and employer contributions. NV5 offers 3 weeks of Paid Time Off a year for full-time hourly employees along with 8 paid holidays a year and Flexible Time Off plan for full-time salary employees along with 6 paid holidays a year. 401(k) savings plan; Company Paid Basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance; Company Paid Short-term and long-term disability insurance are also provided.
