Position Overview
The Nurse Educator/Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enhancing staff development and training programs, coordinating recruitment and hiring, managing payroll and benefits, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role involves working closely with residents, families, and facility staff to foster a positive and cooperative environment. The Nurse Educator/Coordinator also plans and conducts necessary drills, manages infection control programs, and supervises staff while maintaining a professional appearance and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Staff Recruitment and Management:
- Coordinate and participate in recruiting and hiring processes.
- Handle employment-related documentation and manage payroll and employee benefit programs.
- Supervise staff and assist with disciplinary measures as needed.
- Maintain a professional and well-groomed appearance at all times.
- Training and Development:
- Utilize feedback from Licensing and Certification Surveys, Employee Evaluations, and facility rounds to identify staff education needs.
- Organize and oversee the In-Service education program, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Prepare an annual In-Service schedule and a monthly calendar; maintain records as required by regulations.
- Plan and conduct meaningful education programs for nursing personnel and all facility staff to ensure competency and skill development.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Plan, conduct, and document Fire/Internal Disasters and External Mass Casualty Drills.
- Coordinate the infection control surveillance program.
- Complete forms required by the Department of Health regarding In-Service and education programs.
- Participate in facility surveys and inspections by authorized government agencies as requested.
- Resident Care and Confidentiality:
- Provide direct care to residents/patients as needed.
- Ensure confidentiality of all employee and resident/patient information.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Foster a cooperative relationship with employees to generate enthusiasm and maintain a positive work environment.
- Work closely with the Administrator and department heads to align educational programs with facility needs.
Supervisory Requirements
- Assist with overall supervision and management of the staff, including taking or assisting with appropriate disciplinary actions.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with a valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN).
- BSN preferred.
- At least one year of direct patient care experience in a long-term care facility.
- Minimum of one year experience planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs in nursing, with two or more years preferred in a long-term care setting.
- Language Skills:
- Ability to read technical procedures, policy manuals, and effectively present information.
- Strong communication skills for responding to questions from managers and employees.
- Mathematical Skills:
- Proficiency in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in various forms.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current Registered Nursing License (RN) or LVN/LPN License.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of PCC preferred.
- Must maintain required continuing education/licensing and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing/walking and lifting up to 75 pounds.
- Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Frequent reaching, pushing/pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling.
- Visual abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $59,800.00 - $78,000.00 per year
