Job Summary |
The candidate shall assist the Athletic Program in the management of the business and day to day operations of the Department of Athletics. The candidate will be the face of the Cougar Athletics office, providing excellent customer service to internal and external partners. This position's primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing macro administrative support for the Department of Athletics and the Athletics Senior Staff. The position will contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all matters relative to the Department of Athletics to the Athletic Director.
Job Description
* Serve as the initial point of contact for all visitors and callers to the Chicago State Department of Athletics
* Work closely with a campus stakeholders, executives, donors, fans and others as they engage with CSU Athletics to conduct business.
* Originates and prepares administrative, other complex documents and correspondence.
* Coordinates day to day responsibilities of the Athletic Director with other university offices and staff.
* Coordinates and implements directives and policy decisions.
* Prepares reports, correspondence and minutes form internal and external meetings
* Orchestrates administrative support and general management for the department and participates in short-term, long-range planning and goal-setting activities.
* Assist in the investigation of issues as directed, consults with involved parties, and provides advice regarding various options for action.
* Provide a positive atmosphere that promotes a sense of fairness, organization, commitment, motivation, accomplishment, and fun.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
* Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
(NOTE: A Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)
* Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.Must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date

Experience working in Higher Education
Prior Experience as Office Manager and/or leading functional operations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: developing and administering budgets; operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing multiple projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and training and developing staff.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform advanced math; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; budget management and public sector accounting. Current business trends and practices of higher education and/or specific departmental functions; audit procedures.

Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances.
