As a Sales Director, you will be responsible and accountable for achieving the established sales quoting throughput goals, customer satisfaction, profitability of quotes and sales metrics established by the Executive Management team. This position is expected to increase market share and develop new business by calling new customer prospects and following up on all quotes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. The primary focus is to increase aluminum sales, but you are not limited from selling stainless or carbon flat rolled steel. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Develop new sales opportunities with customers consuming aluminum coil, slit, or cut to length products.
- Support the growth of the Flack Capital Markets group by promoting FGM’s risk management products in the marketplace.
- Provide sales quotes to prospects, new, and existing customers while meeting established quoting lead times and estimating standards.
- Market and customer intelligence.
- Develop a strong knowledge of assigned accounts to include current supply chains, plant locations, material specifications, market drivers, competitors, structure, and identify the decision maker authority.
- Identify, develop, and secure sales opportunities through cold calling, prospecting, and relationship building.
- Accountable for meeting established profit margins.
- Oversee customer purchase orders.
- Plan territory management strategy to include an effective travel schedule with regular visits to customers’ offices and plant locations.
- Follow up on previous sales quotes, new customer leads, completed purchase orders, and sales calls.
- Provide high quality customer service to internal and external customers, working collaboratively with the operations group.
- Maintain awareness of all product information to communicate effectively with new and existing customers.
- Develop relationships with key industry suppliers (processors, mills, and paint companies) to broaden technical knowledge, and develop industry and customer intelligence.
- Report customer feedback to management team.
- Collaborate with sales peers on open bid work to drive further development and closure.
- Proactively research and assess market trends and utilize information to drive growth in assigned territories.
- Enter all leads and new account information into our CRM within 48 hours.
- Use company resources to develop and maintain current knowledge of industry news, trends, and initiatives.
- Develop the ability to sell to customers throughout the entire country while working closely with management on pricing product.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS
- A degree in technical and/or engineering discipline or equivalence.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Science is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of sales, marketing, promotions, or communication experience is required.
- At least three years aluminum and/or steel sales experience, and a Bachelor of Science degree in technical and/or engineering discipline or equivalent work is preferred.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks and to work in a fast-paced environment under dynamic schedule constraints is necessary.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working in the steel industry and familiarity or experience working within CRM systems is preferred.

This position has no supervisory responsibility.
