As the Director of Security and Emergency Management, you will oversee the security and emergency initiatives for all Planned Parenthood health centers in San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial Valley. You will provide vision, strategy, and leadership in the development, implementation, and management of an integrated security system that will maintain and enhance general safety for patients and staff. This position will also ensure internal and external investigative policies and procedures are current and updated.
This highly visible position will provide de-escalation training to other security personnel and PPPSW employees, maintaining a collaborative partnership with private sector, local, state, regional, and federal stakeholders to coordinate information and activities.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and on-the-field experience in security analytics, mass notification alert systems, access control, cameras, alarm systems, and the ability to investigate intel for natural emergencies. In this role, you'll get to:
- Security:
- Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of security services and operations in order to provide safety and security to all PPPSW properties, staff, visitors, and patients.
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop and apply security strategies consistent with the identification of current risks, meeting all Agency regulatory and budgetary requirements.
- Understand, interpret, and enforce new and/or updated local, state, and federal security regulations.
- Maintain positive working relations with internal customers and all outside agencies including local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
- Develop a security strategy at all Agency events and oversee contract security personnel as needed.
- Assess and respond to community needs; provide consultation to the Executive Team, board committees, and coalition partners.
- Partner with Facilities to identify appropriate building build-outs and security engineering techniques for hardening building security to any current or prospective spaces.
- Responsible for security coordination for event security including demonstrations, fundraisers, and political activities.
- Responsible for approving our third-party constructional agreement with security services.
- Oversee high profile executive personal security and work with national agents to scrub online presence.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Draft and coordinate the review of incident management plans and processes to ensure that operational procedures are in place to provide critical infrastructure-related information and assistance (as required) when major threats, incidents, or emergencies occur. Raise items to risk management teams.
- Participate in the staff risk management and clinical quality committee (RMQT) as a subject matter expert on security risks and emergency preparedness.
- In partnership with diverse organizations, including government organizations and community-based agencies, create regional emergency plans for mutual aid assistance for large-scale events.
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, manage and keep current the Agency Crisis Communications Plan.
- Negotiate contracts with emergency supply vendors and provide an adequate level of response for all facilities.
- Conduct research and applicable regulations/standards concerning workplace safety. Integrate findings into policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in high-level management of public safety/security and/or emergency principles, or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in security management specifically in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with CCTV/Security Systems (Cameras, Access Control, Alarm Systems).
- Must be knowledgeable in mass emergency notification systems and underlying principles in crisis communications.
- Proven investigation tactics and techniques for internal and external practices.
- Previous experience collecting and presenting Security Analytics.
- Experience with Security Planning for events and managing protester activities.
- Experience in presenting and training on de-escalation strategies.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of a wide array of applications for emergency management principles including our primary services lines (i.e., planning, training, exercise, operations support, analysis, etc.) in federal, state, local, and commercial business segments.
- Ability to ensure 24-hour response for security or disaster recovery emergencies.
- Must be willing to travel to all Agency sites throughout San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial Counties.
- Responsible for properly handling emotional situations and independently solving a variety of difficult situations in a timely manner.
- Proven interpersonal and people relationship management skills required.
$153,433 - $161,105 a year
