The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Distributed Systems, the Supervisor of Campus Operations will be responsible for directing and overseeing the day-to-day operations, repair and maintenance of building Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Refrigeration systems, Plumbing systems, and Electrical systems on off-hour shifts, referred to as MEP Systems, including the Central Energy Plant (CEP), and all auxiliary systems and machinery used in the distribution and dispersion of the various building services and systems throughout the campus.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining records on all applicable equipment. The campus supervisor will be directly responsible for shift personnel and the tracking of daily work performance; ensuring work is being performed effectively and efficiently throughout the Manhattanville campus.
- Oversees and directs all facets of the engineering and utility services, including building trades during the off shift and off hours. They will monitor contractors and be responsible for associated contracts and perform quality control inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and industry standards.
- Responsible for overseeing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) utilization by all off shift and/or off-hour personnel and ensuring work is properly documented and completed in a timely manner.
- Oversees forepersons and workers to ensure the safe and reliable operation and distribution of the MEP systems, Engineering and Utility Systems and Services throughout the Manhattanville Campus. Provides technical expertise in the operations, maintenance, repair, and controls of the Engineering Systems.
- Applies professional principles and judgment to assist with the planning, leadership, operations, maintenance, and administration of the Engineering and Utility Systems and Services.
- Will ensure effective operations and avoid unsafe conditions or service interruptions of the various applicable systems.
May have an MEP shop directly assigned to them.
- Works closely with all of the Manhattanville Engineering Officers as well as the Manager of the District Energy systems to provide a highly reliable environment, and seamless service to the clients as well as supporting other departments, events, and activities as required.
- Will help develop and implement processes and procedures to establish and maintain records for the operation, repair, and maintenance of MEP systems, Engineering and Utility Systems and Services of the Manhattanville Campus.
- Promote the values and mission of the University and the department. All interactions will be performed in a professional, high quality, and customer-centered manner in professional attire.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with clients.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, plus a minimum of 4 years related experience is required.
- Required: One (1) year of demonstrated supervisory experience of union/non-union staff is required.
- Strong understanding of the various systems throughout a facility, including but not limited to HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Electrical, Lighting, etc.
- Computer literacy and experience working with spreadsheets are required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, engineering standards and compliance with all cities, state, and federal regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Building Automation and control systems.
Other Requirements
- Employees are required to be Tuberculosis (TB) negative, submit to periodic TB testing and a chest x-ray if a positive TB test is read.
