I am working with a food manufacturing company recruiting a Director of Procurement in the Chicago area. Below is an overview:
This role will manage meat procurement for the company domestically and globally, overseeing the entire spend related to meat procurement including poultry, pork, and beef. This role will manage a team of two direct reports and will be onsite 5 days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Develop protein sourcing strategies aligned with company goals.
- Provide market updates and risk assessments to management.
- Adjust procurement strategies based on beef, pork, and poultry market conditions.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships for a reliable protein supply chain.
- Lead negotiations and renew contracts with major protein suppliers.
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes.
The Ideal Candidate:- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- 10+ years of experience working within a sourcing role related to meat procurement.
- Experience sourcing poultry, pork, or beef on a large-scale level.
- Experience leading a team.
