The Opportunity
The Medical Region & TA Lead (RTAL) sets and executes the cross-portfolio medical strategy for a specific region and therapeutic area. They partner with the Customer Engagement Regional Vice President to align Genentech with customer needs, delivering a holistic experience across the portfolio. The RTAL leads with an enterprise approach, improving the care continuum and optimizing healthcare delivery. They maintain a strong scientific understanding of their therapeutic area, collaborating with the Medical Network and Squads for strategic execution. The RTAL prioritizes medical strategies for effective Field Medical execution, recognizing opportunities and constraints to enhance healthcare delivery nationally. They mentor Regional MSL Directors, Medical Executive Directors, and Medical Science Liaison teams, ensuring alignment and execution of strategies.
This role will lead the Midwest region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the regional medical strategy, ensuring alignment across the product portfolio and organizational objectives.
- Advocate for cohesive and integrated medical strategy execution.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships across FMLT and cross-functional partners to integrate therapeutic area strategies with access and care delivery initiatives.
- Act as a steward of Roche, efficiently investing in and sustaining programs and capabilities, prioritizing impact, risk mitigation, and opportunity maximization.
- Advocate for the inclusion of Field Medical needs in critical initiatives across Commercial, Medical Affairs, and Government Affairs teams.
- Partner with Customer Engagement colleagues delivering a unified and impactful experience.
- Lead regional MED and MSL teams in driving medical strategies within local healthcare systems, using Roche/Genentech capabilities to deliver significant value.
Who you are
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced clinical science degree required (e.g., MD, PharmD, MsRPH, PhD, MSN, NP, PA).
- 15+ years related work experience (managed care/health plan, hospital administration, clinical pathway or formulary decision maker, industry experience, etc.)
- 5+ years experience successfully leading and managing a customer facing or field team
- Outstanding knowledge of the healthcare landscape and business acumen required, including understanding Genentech’s business model, value proposition, key competitors, and marketplace dynamics.
- Deep expertise of given therapeutic area, Oncology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Immunology, and/or Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM), healthcare, legal and regulatory landscape and customer (health systems, payers, providers, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in strategy, planning, prioritizing, and leading high-level initiatives and projects to consistently deliver results.
Preferred
- Experience in coaching and developing people and/or teams
- Applicants who reside within the region.
Location and Travel Requirements
Business travel by air or car is required for regular internal and customer facing meetings. Both national and international travel may be required. Role is field-based with a certain percentage of time expected in South San Francisco.
The expected salary range for this position is $237,500 - $441,100. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
