Functional Area: Consumer Lending

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Demonstrate business leadership by formulating objectives, practices and policies that further short-term and long-term credit union goals.
- Effectively leads consumer lending personnel, including loan origination, sales, underwriting, and funding.
- Actively participates in the on-going research and development of products and services designed to meet community financial needs.
- Demonstrates organizational success through engagement of cross functional partnerships.
- Ensures the KPI’s used to measure business plan objectives are met or exceeded. Adjusts as needed to align with available resources.
- Seeks to continually improve the user experience through technology and developing efficient processes.
- Successfully manages unexpected situations using anecdotal and factual data to resolve challenges optimally, creating win-win scenarios.
- Demonstrates and promotes the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion and credit union values through their leadership and daily work.
- Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in setting expectations, delegating, organizing work and coaching towards results.
- Establishes goals and objectives that are in alignment with SCU’s strategic/operating plans.
- Underwrites consumer loan applications and reviews higher risk applications and makes quality loan decisions on loan requests within designated loan approval limits.
- Responsible for oversight on loan policy exceptions.
- Build and maintain an annual budget for department expenditures.
- Responsible for ensuring monthly, quarterly, and annual audits are completed in a timely manner and that findings are reported to the VP, Consumer Lending.
- Represents the department during internal/external audits and exams.
- Manages vendor contracts within areas of responsibility, works directly with vendors to ensure SCU members are receiving cost efficient and quality service.
- Assures a qualified, trained staff. Supervises the Consumer Lending Relationship Sales Manager, underwriters, and processors including hiring, training, reviewing, scheduling and other administrative duties.
- Responsible for adherence to internal policies and compliance with state and federal regulations as it pertains to Consumer Lending.
- Plays a primary role in the planning and development of department programs and policies and implements same.
- Supports, promotes and cross-sells the Credit Union products and services, and ensures that staff does the same.
- Demonstrates high quality service that is aligned with credit union service standards. Mentors staff, so they deliver similar impact.
- Demonstrates a commitment to Seattle Credit Union’s core values.
- Regular and punctual attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
- Five (5)+ years of experience in Consumer Lending; emphasis on underwriting and sales/production.
- Three (3)+ years as a people manager.
- Two (2)+ years in a consumer underwriting capacity.
- Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations and consumer lending underwriting requirements.
- Demonstrates decisiveness, integrity, flexibility, and critical thinking that advances the team, department, and organizational success.
- Strong communication skills. Optimally communicates with tact, discretion and courtesy to all levels of people within and outside the organization.
- Proficient in the use of lending operating systems (LOS).
- Demonstrates the agility to balance multiple priorities and manage a large volume in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Temenos (Akcelerant) and Fiserv/DNA.
- Stand-out people leader skills/abilities (seminars, webinars, specific training courses, certificates earned, etc.)
Working Conditions:
- This is a hybrid role with work performed remotely as well as in an office and/or branch environment in the Greater Seattle area of Washington State.
- Team members may attend special off-hour meetings and seminars.
- The nature of work may include prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
