Position SummaryMaintaining centralized data storage facilities for enterprise servers and other campus computer systems is a core activity of Data and Platform Services in Campus IT Infrastructure. In this role, DPS provides enterprise storage services on a recharge basis to customers everywhere on the Berkeley campus. These customers are in the Berkeley IT units such as infrastructure services, network, database administrators, storage, application programmers, security, and EOS. This team also works with LBNL, HAAS, Library, UC Merced, and other departments/researchers/labs across Berkeley. The Enterprise Storage Systems Administrator is responsible for the Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure, including NAS, Object and cloud storage and all components needed to run these environments. The Administrator plans and implements installations and upgrades, develops and applies data storage policies and procedures, and provides assistance and problem resolution for system administrators and customers who use bIT data storage services.

Responsibilities- Applies advanced systems/infrastructure concepts to define, design and implement highly complex storage networks.
- Proposes and implements highly complex system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
- Manages centralized servers and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of new computer hardware.
- Analyzes, acquires, installs, modifies and supports operating systems, databases, utilities and Internet/intranet-related tools.
- Conducts highly complex systems programming and systems support activities.
- Applies advanced systems/infrastructure concepts to operate the campus' internal data communications systems, including LANs and WANs.
- Initiates, plans, designs and implements networked systems.
- Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
- Engages in continuous professional development and training.
Required Qualifications- Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner across the organization and at varying levels.
- Has knowledge, skills and abilities associated with problem identification and resolution.
- Has knowledge necessary to design, set-up, operate, and correct malfunctions involving application of technology systems.
- Requires advanced knowledge of storage and networking.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & BenefitsThis is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position, which is paid monthly and eligible for UC Benefits.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $109,200.00 - $151,000.00.
