Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. The salary range for this position is $193,200-$428,300. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description
The Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications and nominations for a nationally recognized academic physician to serve as the Chief of the UCLA Division of Infectious Diseases.
The UCLA Division of Infectious Diseases comprises a distinguished cadre of 40 faculty members across the full spectrum of clinical care, research, and education. The division includes comprehensive, high quality clinical care and research programs in general infectious diseases, infections in immunocompromised hosts (including those post-transplant), and HIV medicine. Clinical care is provided at the nationally reputed Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, the UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, Torrance Memorial Medical Center, and several outpatient clinics throughout Los Angeles County. With a total research portfolio of ~$59 million, the division includes research programs developing new treatments and cures for infectious diseases. The division trains future leaders through its multicampus fellowship program and an advanced clinical training program in transplant-related infectious diseases. The division's renowned UCLA Center for Clinical AIDS Research and Education (CARE) and Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) provide state-of-the-art medical care, conduct clinical trials for people living with HIV, and fund research across the translational science spectrum. The reach of the division extends worldwide through the Global Health Program. Housed within one of the largest departments of medicine in the country and located on the campus of an internationally renowned research university with a $1 billion research portfolio, the UCLA Division of Infectious Diseases is uniquely poised for transformational cross-disciplinary innovation and high-impact research.
This is a particularly dynamic time for the department and the next division chief, as the department implements a strategic plan to achieve its vision to lead in innovation, transform care, and advance health for all. The division chief reports to the Chair of the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine and Executive Medical Director of the Department of Medicine at UCLA Health, Dr. E. Dale Abel, and works collaboratively with clinical, academic, and administrative leaders within these entities, to advance the mission of excellence in clinical care, education, research, and community engagement, while further elevating the division's stature in the region and the nation. In addition, the chief cultivates a collegial, inclusive, and multidisciplinary culture, providing mentorship to faculty members, trainees, and students while also upholding UCLA Health's patient-experience model.
The ideal candidate is a visionary academic physician with an outstanding record of accomplishments in research, education, clinical care, and service, who has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a track record of collaboration. The successful candidate will combine an exceptional research background and clinical acumen with superb communication skills and emotional intelligence, an inspiring strategic vision, a dedication to the mentorship and development of clinician scientists, PhD scientists, and clinician educators, and a deep commitment to fostering wellness in an equitable environment that is inclusive, humanistic, and respectful of diversity. All candidates must hold a MD or equivalent, have appropriate academic credentials for a tenured faculty appointment, be board-eligible in infectious disease, and be eligible for licensure in California.
