Your Opportunity
Our Midwest team is growing and we need a dynamic leader to help us bring innovative and creative solutions to the communities we serve. As our Senior Traffic / ITS Engineer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to find new ways of improving the transportation experience for communities in our backyard, across North America, and around the globe. Your role will include leading the pursuit, planning, and development of traffic/ITS projects with the support of the passionate and skilled colleagues. With access to Stantec’s global network of multi-disciplinary teams with diverse backgrounds that inspire new ways of thinking, you can be a thought leader or leverage the thought leadership of your co-workers. Your creativity will be applied to a variety of projects including CAV/AV, smart mobility, micro-mobility, active transportation, smart cities, climate change adaptation and more.
You will play a primary role in guiding and growing our traffic/ITS presence in the Midwest. You will join a dedicated group of professionals who are eager to take their capabilities to the next level and more fully leverage the resources and expertise of a global company. In this role, you will connect with potential clients, mentor and guide employees, and lead projects to further establish our organization as a top transportation engineering firm. Your work will include coordinating with, and provide support to, the Transportation and Community Development teams on projects throughout Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and beyond.

As a manager, you will deliver projects within scope and budget; provide compliant and technically sound designs; manage, coach, and mentor resources effectively; manage the stakeholder and engagement process; proactively build relationships within an organization; and actively manage, maintain, and expand external client relationships.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Actively identify project pursuit opportunities, manage client relationships, develop new clients, and lead or assist in the preparation of proposals to win those pursuits.
- Perform as project manager, and/or technical specialist on traffic engineering projects, responsible for invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets.
- Collaborate with staff from greater Stantec to provide support, access expertise, and secure assistance on projects as needed.
- Stay abreast of market trends and client concerns and develop responsive solutions.
- Support an energetic and collaborative team culture that drives great results.
- Prepare and review traffic control plans, signing/pavement markings, traffic signal plans, and/or ITS designs for various highway and roadway traffic projects.
- Conduct and/or oversee traffic modeling and analysis for studies.
- Prepare memorandums and reports for traffic studies and research.
- Present technical reports at public and agency meetings.
- Mentor staff to develop each to their full potential.
- Supervise the work of other engineers.
- Review work for accuracy and coordinates with others to ensure quality assurance and quality control for all final products.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proven ability in project pursuits including client engagement, developing teaming strategies and developing proposals.
- Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to lead one or more design teams through all phases of project production.
- Ability to perform and/or oversee the preparation of traffic studies, analysis, and modeling using Synchro, CORSIM, and/or VISSIM.
- Knowledge of calculations performed by software.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota or ability to obtain within 1 year.
- PTOE license is preferred.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in Traffic Engineering and Project Management.
