The Workforce Analytic Solution team is responsible for developing analytics to support or automate recurring decisions in an objective, data-driven manner to improve field labor decisions. Examples of analytic solutions this team manages include helping optimize the allocation of sales advisors across our retail stores and predict the volume of in-home and in-store services to staff accordingly.
As the Senior Manager of Workforce Analytic Solutions, you will work with functional partners to identify our roadmap of analytic solutions to develop, oversee the team to develop the solutions and drive adoption of the solutions. The team seeks a candidate with extensive background in applying analytic and machine learning techniques to solve problems with a track record of improving business decisions using analytics.
This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What will you do?
- Manage, coach, and develop a team that builds workforce analytic solutions.
- Lead/manage workforce solutions through the analytic lifecycle (discovery, proof of concept, pilot, production). This includes:
- Working with functional partners to define solutions, manage expectations and drive adoption.
- Managing the teams that do the development and maintenance of solutions.
- Working with other technical teams who develop and deploy our solutions including Database Developers to ensure we have the necessary data and Applied Machine Learning to productionalize our analytics.
- For each project, assist in writing code, developing the analytical methodology to answer the question, creating presentation-ready material, and sharing out to the end client. You will also have a team to support these activities but having hands-on experience in each area is critical.
Basic Qualifications
- 5 years of applied experience in data science, data analysis, data mining or other similar business functions.
- 2 years of experience leading and managing direct reports.
- Hands-on experience using data analytics and optimization tools (i.e., SQL, Python, R, Vertex AI).
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college/university preferably in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or related STEM field.
- Effectively manage a business relationship with a client, consistently driving forward the work.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful, end-to-end projects from concept to execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters / PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
- 3 years of retail experience.
- 2 years of prior experience in workforce analytics.
- Working knowledge of various analytic methods (i.e., data analysis, statistics, operations research and/or machine learning) with application to business problems.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams.
