As a Senior Engineer on the Inspired Discovery team, you will deliver digital customer experiences across Best Buy that boost excitement for new and noteworthy products and drive stickier, long-lasting engagement. We believe that discovery can happen at any point in the customer journey, whether it’s during an unplanned moment, in the afterglow of a recent purchase, or when a customer is ready to upgrade their tech. We lean into emerging tech (e.g. generative AI), exclusive content, and personalization to amplify the most important and relevant stories in consumer technology.
This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota, or Atlanta, Georgia.
What you’ll do
- You will participate in the creation and presentation of technical designs
- You will lead in the delivery of complex solutions
- Your depth of knowledge will aid in anticipating technical issues at the product level and will make architectural and design decisions to avoid them
- You will lead and effectively triage complex issues across systems in many environments
- You will demonstrate creativity to take initiative in solving complex problems
Minimum Requirements
- 3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
- 2 or more years of development experience in building components using React JS and node.js
- 2 or more years of development experience in building components using React Native
- 3 or more years of development experience using any of the following: (GraphQL, Git, NPM, Yarn, Babel, Webpack, Typescript, Jest, Mocha, Chai, Cypress, React Query, Tan Stack, Apollo Client, React Hooks, Fetch API, Lighthouse, Fastify, Koa, Chrome dev tools)
- 1 or more years of experience with agile processes such as TDD, Paired Programming, CI/CD and lead by example with a quality mindset.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- 3 or more years of experience building components in React-Native
- Ability to build and optimize web applications and platforms in a cloud environment with a solid understanding of system design
- Ability to collaborate with product managers
- Experience designing and building GraphQL queries and integration with front end components
- Ability to triage and manage complex, production issues
- Experience building highly scalable and performing applications
- Knowledge of networks, security, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and other infrastructure components
- Experience designing and leading the development of large features within a team
- Understands considerations for state, session management, caching and other required JS dependencies
