Department SummaryStephen J. Agostini is the Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer. The Office of the Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer advises the Chancellor and Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost regarding academic and budgetary planning issues and allocation of campus resources, including issues involving students, faculty, staff, space, real estate, and university finances. The office also manages the key campus planning processes and data sets that support these decisions, and performs a central role in UCLA's systems of internal control and accountability. The office also is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of all campus capital projects.
Position SummaryThe Senior Advisor to the Vice Chancellor/CFO for Treasury and Capital Financing will serve as the Vice Chancellor's principal advisor regarding treasury, debt, capital financing, special project financing, and cash management issues for the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). The Senior Advisor represents the Vice Chancellor in day-to-day operations and works in conjunction with VC/CFO Associate Vice Chancellors. The Senior Advisor works in close collaboration with campus senior leaders and the greater campus community to improve the strategic management of the University's resources. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for providing recommendations and implementing agreed-upon strategies. The Vice Chancellor/Chief Financial Officer (CFO) organization is composed of 6 departments and has a $110 million budget spent in 2023-24 and includes approximately 400 staff members.

Qualifications- 10 or more years Financial management experience at a major research-intensive public university with an annual budget more than $4 billion, managing cash balances of approximately $2 billion, an internal central bank equivalent. (Required)
- Experience authoring and presenting extensive and comprehensive financial information to external parties, such as national rating agencies, bond counsel, and banking entities. (Preferred)
- Extensive experience briefing Trustees, senior University leaders, and State Higher Education officials on debt, treasury considerations, capital financing, and auxiliary operations. (Required)
- Expert proficiency with software products and tools to access information in the general ledger, build financial forecasts and financial simulations, and create concise and comprehensive presentations for senior leaders is required. (Required)
- Ability to work collaboratively with various departments, stakeholders, and external partners to drive system improvements. (Required)
- Strong problem-solving ability to address system inefficiencies and recommend solutions that improve financial operations. (Required)
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and systems to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. (Required)
- Skill in leading change management initiatives, particularly in the adoption of new financial systems and processes. (Required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into business terms. (Required)
- Ability to align financial systems and processes with the organization’s strategic goals. (Required)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and regulatory compliance. (Required)
