DIRECTOR - ADVANCED MANUFACTURING

Daley College is the Center of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing within the district. Daley College has Advanced Manufacturing training facilities on its main campus and at the Arturo Velazquez satellite campus. The manufacturing training programs are continuing to grow and the program facilities, supplies, tools processes and systems need to support the growing program as new instructors, administrators and students relay on the program for excellent training experiences.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Reporting to the Dean, College to Careers, the Director - Advanced Manufacturing provides leadership in the management and operation of the manufacturing training sites, directing staff and ensuring the provision of support services to students to assist them in obtaining appropriate credentials leading to jobs and careers in manufacturing related industries or continuing in accomplishing their educational goals.
The Director - Advanced Manufacturing works to build process and procedures within the department and college to allow growth and expansion of both credit and non-credit programs to meet the changing needs of students and local manufacturing employers.
Recognizing that the programs have a high reliance on fully functioning facilities and equipment and having the necessary supplies available when needed for labs, the Director - Advanced Manufacturing coordinates with faculty to anticipate needs and installs systems to provide for the scheduled activities and utilization of resources in alignment with growth and expansion plans. Performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Accountable for program management and administration including scheduling classes, ordering supplies, maintaining operating performance of training equipment and facilities, coordinating faculty, improving program metrics.
- Collaborates with the program team, other departmental staff, and consultants and specialists to develop and/or teach special courses as required by local industry and increasing the attainment of industry recognized certifications by students.
- Coordinates the research, data collection, and evaluation activities of the program in collaboration with faculty and administration to increase certificate and degree attainment by increasing numbers of students.
- Researches and writes policies for the program.
- Participates in strategic planning and related activities such as establishing programs’ KPIs and supporting projects initiated at the district level.
- Researches and advocates policies at local and state levels that support the educational and
professional needs of the program’s target populations, or that advances their economic or professional position.
- Develops and updates annual program plans based on grants and strategic initiatives.
- Builds networks and strategic alliances with community-based organizations, industry associations
employers and educational institutions.
- Develops marketing and communication strategies to identify and recruit candidates, and to promote the program to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contributes to grant proposals, providing information that identifies program needs and recommendations for program enhancements.
- Oversees the preparation of progress and final reports as required by funding sources.
- Oversees the identification of, hiring, and supervision of specialists/consultants to ensure the
development of curricula and/or teaching of specialized courses.
- Plans and manages the Center’s operating budget.
- Leads and engages in tours and recruitment activities for the program.
- Coordinates the assessment evaluation and improvement activities of the program.
- Represents the program and or the Initiative at various local, site, and national venues.
- Performs related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Technical Education, Engineering, Technology Management, or a relevant related field.
- Master’s degree preferred
- Three years of relevant experience of increasing responsibility
- Post-secondary education or community college work experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience establishing policies and procedures to
improve operations.
- Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
