The Director of Student Financial Aid reports to the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Services and has primary responsibility for all phases of the administration of Title IV programs, State student assistance and Institutional assistance programs. The responsibilities include oversight for the development, implementation, delivery and assessment of Student Financial Aid Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Develop, execute and assess programs, policies and procedures to provide maximum federal, state, institutional and external assistance to qualified aid students for enrollment purposes.
- Develop innovative strategies to deliver student financial services and collaborate with other departments (Admissions, Registrar, Student Success, Business Office) to improve efficiencies.
- Collaborate with other enrollment leaders to implement a comprehensive outreach strategy that will lead to enrollment growth as outlined in the institution’s strategic goals.
- Develop and maintain training, reports, audit support and analysis of financial aid programs grounded in best practices for Financial Aid Management.
- Serve as a member of an integrated leadership team dedicated to effective delivery of student financial aid as a part of the institution’s commitment to student recruitment, retention, and success.
- Develop and maintain a policy and procedures manual for financial aid.
- Develop and distribute materials as appropriate for Financial Aid service needs.
- Meet annual goals established by the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Support Services.
- Maintain up to date technological skills and use efficiently in performance of job functions.
- Oversee and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, and institutional policies and procedures. Prepare reports for the federal and state governments as required.
- Comply with all policies of the University.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and tasks based on need.
- Actively work towards building cooperative and collaborative relationships with peers and internal faculty and staff.
- Maintain “open door” to internal and external customers.
- Identify opportunities for improvements to work practices and offer viable solutions for implementation.
- Proactively engage in problem solving related to tasks in this position with internal and external people.
- Routinely practice self-monitoring by assessing self to make improvements or corrective action to improve performance and service to students.
- Complete other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience providing leadership and oversight in financial aid management, disbursement and administration.
- Knowledge of best practices and broad experience in developing and administering need-based aid programs.
- Experience with budget preparation, program administration and using quantitative and qualitative data in support of strategic decision-making.
- Experience with compliance under Federal Regulatory Oversight.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED :
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills, and demonstrated ability to move ideas forward in a collaborative manner.
- Commitment to the enrollment management organizational structures and use of data analytics.
- Banner software experience.
- NASFAA credentialing.
Salary Schedule:
Salary Band: A80. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
