Controllers ensure that the firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated, and public financial institution. Our professionals measure the profitability of, and risks associated with, every aspect of the firm's business. Controllers also ensure that the firm's activities are conducted in compliance with the regulations governing transactions in the financial markets.

Are you looking to apply your accounting and analytical skills to interact with and learn about a variety of different businesses at Goldman Sachs, and deepen your understanding of the firm's books and records? The Risk & Regulatory Control Controllers team is seeking a change professional who is looking to collaborate with all divisions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and governance of the firm's books and records. You will partner with the Reconciliations and Books & Records Change management teams to help facilitate the firm's strategic Books & Records initiatives, develop expertise in identifying and implementing enhancements to prevent exceptions and enable new business, while developing all of your communication skills through coordinating with all impacted groups.
OUR IMPACT
Within the Risk & Regulatory Control organization, the Reconciliations Team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the firm's books and records. The team performs daily intercompany, external and internal reconciliations, reporting identified exceptions to responsible teams across divisions. The Reconciliations team strives to accurately and effectively compare internal books and records to external clearing agents such as BoNY and DTCC. The team performs inter-company reconciliations to help facilitate business transactions between a GS company and its affiliates. The Ledger Integrity team monitors reconciliations between the internal ledgers of the firm to ensure that the books and records on which our financial statements are based are accurate. We assess and report operational risks through the analysis of settlement and trade activity to allow the business to better manage their risk. The Books and Records Change Management team has a global footprint and is responsible for helping to launch new businesses, and review and test changes introduced to the firm's core books and records. The team supports a wide range of functions including requirements building, gap analysis, posting documentation, user acceptance testing, and issue resolution.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
- Drive initiatives to uplift infrastructure and procedures supporting Reconciliations globally, implementing the firm's strategy for managing Reconciliations.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the settlement and trade flows for all the firm's businesses and how they interact with the books and records that are held both internally and externally.
- Work with business partners to analyze and implement solutions and workflows for new business opportunities, execute project plans to achieve objectives; identifying key milestones and critical path items.
- Collaborate with a global team to leverage knowledge and best practices.
- Structuring ambiguous problems and taking action to solve them without complete information.
- Develop strong and effective relationships with critical vendors which maintain books and records.
- Highlight your ideas for improving processes and implement them globally to impact and uplift the entire process.
- Work with senior technologists and project managers on key projects that are reshaping the exception identification, communication, and resolution models.
- Prepare materials for working groups and committees, project dashboards, operating model diagrams, requirement specifications, test plans, etc.
- Assist in the development and execution of test plans; coordinate testing, signoff, and user training associated with new system flows.
- Monitor and report on the progress of ongoing technical development work for the firm's ledger systems.
- Conduct detailed problem tracking, resolution and completion of all actions and issues by their deadlines.
- Communicate updates, statuses and timelines to stakeholders, and escalate items at risk.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years relevant work experience in Operations, Finance or related field leading teams, functions and managing projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate objectives or ideas to drive outcome and influence decisions.
- Experience managing global change teams and providing coaching and mentorship.
- Flexible and able to remain composed under pressure in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Highly self-motivated and proactive team player, who takes ownership and accountability of projects, has strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
- Exceptional analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and a control mentality paired with meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrates ability to establish strong working relationships with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to drive process improvements, generate innovative ideas and translate strategy to execution.
- Ability to prioritize workload to drive results and manage multiple concurrent tasks with dynamic and aggressive deadlines.
- Aptitude for building relationships and ability to communicate complex issues to a wide array of internal clients with differing levels of product experience.
- Strong analytical abilities, including the use of data and visualization of data to aid strategy discussion with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
