Job Summary: As a key member of the Office of the Chief Real Estate Officer, you will play a vital role in overseeing the financial aspects of managing U of U properties. Working closely with the Executive Director, you will direct and oversee the accounting management of these properties, aligning with the University’s overarching goals of fostering student success, driving knowledge generation, engaging communities, and ensuring the institution’s long-term vitality. Your expertise in accounting will contribute directly to the efficient and effective financial stewardship of University assets, supporting its mission and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements for real estate properties, ensuring compliance with GASB 87 standards.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts for real estate projects.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to real estate transactions.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes for real estate properties, utilizing Yardi software.
- Expense Management: Monitor and analyze real estate expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax filings for real estate entities.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis on real estate investments, including ROI calculations and lease analysis.
- Asset Management Support: Collaborate with asset managers to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives for real estate assets.
- Notify ground lease holders or tenants in our buildings about upcoming rent escalations, ensuring all necessary updates are accurately reflected in Yardi/Archibus systems.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Master’s degree in Business Administration or related area preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care. Preferences: Real Estate Experience preferred, proficiency in Yardi software and experience with GASB 87 compliance. 5-7 years of accounting experience preferred.
