Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add an Electronics Engineering Manager 2 – Avionics Section Manager to join our team in Palmdale, CA or Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization. This role has both 80% program and 20% functional responsibilities.
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Influence teams to achieve goals.
- Present to technical leadership (e.g., chief engineers, SEIT & IPT leads).
- Advise stakeholders on technical topics.
- Regularly provide input for proposals.
- Mentor & share knowledge with others.
FUNCTIONAL HOMEROOM RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a section of electronics, electrical and mechanical engineers (10-15 personnel).
- Partner with technical and functional management to develop an approach that satisfies the staffing needs between programs.
- Timecard approval, employee performance evaluations, facilitating employee growth, and special assignments in support of the functional homeroom.
- Ensure personnel and hardware safety, driving compliance with policies and procedures including security, property management, training, configuration control, and test conduct.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline AND 9 years of related experience; OR a Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience.
- Active in-Scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.
- Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR).
- Experience leading an engineering team or project.
- Experience with avionics systems engineering and integration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Risk/Opportunity/Issue management experience related to complex hardware and software subsystems.
- Proven success as a technical team lead, solving complex technical issues.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to include written and verbal communication.
- Experience executing the engineering project life cycle, including: requirements analysis, design, development, integration, validation, verification, and sustainment.
- Demonstrated success in leading, collaborating, and developing cross functional teams of varying degrees of skill on complex technical projects.
- Prior Functional Management Experience.
- Ability and desire to provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to direct reports.
Salary Range: $151,900 - $227,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
