Tax Manager
Job Description:
The Tax Manager will be responsible for leading and managing multiple operations of the tax practice area and delivering quality tax services. This position requires the individual to build relationships and interact with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting, and expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and review complex tax returns including federal, state, and local.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax forms.
- Oversee and manage tax provision and tax compliance process.
- Tax Planning:
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes.
- Manage tax provision and tax compliance process.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks.
- Advisory and Research:
- Research complex tax issues and develop sound tax strategies.
- Provide innovative tax planning and review complex income tax returns.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks.
- Leadership:
- Train and mentor staff.
- Manage and coordinate tax audits.
- Keep abreast of current developments in the tax area.
- Provide support with various internal audits and special tax-related projects.
- Financial Reporting:
- Manage and coordinate tax audits.
- Improve processes by developing or implementing best practices.
- Manage and coordinate tax audits.
- Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments.
- Communicate the effects of these developments to management.
- Create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
- Provide a high level of client service to ensure client satisfaction.
- Work closely with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or other relevant certification is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a tax role, preferably in a public accounting firm.
- Experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations.
- Familiarity with tax research tools and tax software (experience with Lacerte and CCH Access is a plus).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
