An established real estate firm with over $1B AUM is seeking a Tax Manager to join their growing tax department. As the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for compliance, financial reporting, general accounting, annual tax planning and tax research. Tax Compliance
- Coordinate the preparation of 200+ partnership tax returns with external CPA firms.
- Review draft tax returns for accuracy and completeness before filing.
- Prepare, process, and ensure timely delivery of federal, state, and local tax and withholding payments.
- Respond to and track the resolution of tax authority notices.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of ColRich deal structures and related entities.
- Prepare income tax projections for corporate entities and owners as needed.
- Monitor and analyze existing and emerging tax laws and regulations, assess their impact on investment partnerships, and present findings to management.
Financial Reporting
- Manage a portfolio of Joint Venture books, including transaction recording, month-end close, reconciliations, and finalizing financial statements.
- Monitor daily bank activities for assigned corporate cash accounts, record ACH and wire transfers, and complete monthly reconciliations.
- Communicate tax and withholding-related cash needs to Investor Relations and Accounting teams for effective cash-flow management.
- Review year-end financial statements prepared by accountants for accuracy before submission for tax preparation.
- Conduct ad hoc data analysis and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6 years in public accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with an emphasis in accounting
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Real estate accounting experience
- Knowledge of Sage 300 and Yardi Voyager a plus
- Knowledge of multi-tiered partnership structures including consolidation and passthrough activity
- Knowledge of 1031 exchanges, TIC ownership structures and other complex real estate transactions
- Able to research and interpret tax and other accounting guidance
- Able to learn new systems quickly; previous work in a paperless environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet required deadlines
Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000*
