Position Overview
As the ADAS/AD Senior Engineer for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) at Porsche Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in driving the software development lifecycle for cutting-edge ADAS solutions. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks, including architecture definition, prototyping, testing, and integration of ADAS software into vehicle systems. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally, you will ensure the seamless integration of ADAS software, leveraging partnerships with local startup and tech companies to identify and harness emerging technologies. Specifically focused on the U.S. market, you will spearhead the development of parking and driving functions, aligning closely with customer demands and market trends.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Technical lead the software and function development lifecycle for ADAS solutions, including architecture definition, prototyping, and testing.
- Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate ADAS software into vehicle systems.
- Identify and leverage emerging technologies for ADAS and AD development in partnering with local startup and tech companies.
- Drive the development of parking and driving functions for the U.S. market.
- Establish and maintain regular communication channels with development teams located in Germany to foster seamless information exchange and collaboration throughout the ADAS software development process.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, ensuring the successful execution of ADAS projects.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in ADAS technology to inform future development efforts.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define, scope, prioritize, and successfully deliver major ADAS software initiatives that span multiple teams and organizations within Porsche Engineering.
- Assess and address the needs of stakeholders throughout the product development organization, leveraging influence to ensure alignment on prioritized initiatives.
- Utilize technical project planning, management, and leadership skills to oversee the development and delivery of ADAS Embedded Software.
- Drive technical project planning, management, and leadership efforts for the development and delivery of software tooling and support software to advance ADAS product development.
- Develop and execute roadmaps, schedules, project plans, and resource plans to ensure ADAS meets customer commitments across all customer constituencies.
- Technically lead team members in implementing software development practices and ensure precise execution of technical plans, including milestone progress management, dependency tracking, risk management, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Technically lead cross-functional teams including Systems, Software, Feature, Suppliers, V&V, and Quality to define and execute development plans, ensuring timely software delivery with the highest quality standards.
- Apply technical expertise to assist other technical leaders and engineers in resolving dependencies and issues with stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and efficient development environment.
- Apply guidance to assist other technical leaders and engineers to develop and execute test and validation strategies specifically for the U.S. market in close collaboration with the international stakeholders and project managers.
- Facilitate the resolution of technical issues or lead discussions to explore solution options, ensuring timely decision-making and progress towards project goals.
- Communicate project status to a broad stakeholder and leadership community, emphasizing schedule risks and developing recovery plans in case of project delays.
- Proactively utilize work management tools such as Confluence, Gitlab, JIRA, and Project Management Tools to make plans and status visible to leadership, and to strategize contingency plans and options.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5 years of automotive industry experience in an engineering or related role
- 5 years of experience in development and testing of electric control units for vehicles
- 3 years of experience in leading small to midsize teams
- Strong experience with and knowledge of automotive systems and vehicle architecture within large automotive groups
- Strong technical expertise in ADAS algorithms, sensors, and software integration.
- Experience in prototyping and testing ADAS solutions in a real-world environment.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with external stakeholders, including local startup and tech companies, to drive innovation and collaboration.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Experience with associated diagnostic tools to analyze problems in vehicles
- Experience with data analysis and engineering evaluations
- Strong communication skills; ability to present complex subject matter to a wide range of audiences
- Business fluent in English and German
Preferred qualifications include:
- Advanced degree in Informatics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Very good knowledge of vehicle topology and bus systems (CAN, OABR, Flexray…) and communication protocols
- Proven experience in software development and architecture definition, with a focus on ADAS or automotive systems.
- Experience with Atlassian tool chain
- Prior experience with the German language and culture considered as a plus

The applicant will receive a salary range $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
Percentage of required travel: <10% (domestic business trips, Europe)
Schedule/Shift: 5:30/6:00am - Afternoon
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable with physical exertion for 3 – 5 hour intervals
- Comfortable standing and walking for 3 – 5 hour intervals
- Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5 hours)
- This job operates in a port and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
