Position Title: Director of Design and Concept Development
Reports To: VP of Business Development and Consultant
Salary: $145,000 to $160,000
Other Forms of Compensation: Bonus

Job Summary
Position Overview:
The Director of Design and Concept Development leads both internal and external projects from a spatial design and guest experience perspective. Supporting USE's VP of Business Development and Consulting, and working collaboratively with key leaders, this role is also responsible for developing and communicating new concepts, with a focus on architecture, interior design and branding. The Director of Design and Concept Development must also understand how operations, logistics, culinary development, marketing and finance influence and integrate into projects, to create a holistic solution and optimal hospitality experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the business development and consulting activities of Union Square Events/Hospitality Lab and lead key areas related to architecture, interior design and branding.
- Support USE's VP of Business Development and Consulting by acting as the design lead for consulting projects and new business initiatives with active involvement in USE's critical path timelines, and oversee concept, design and branding related tasks and responsibilities.
- Create spatial design solutions.
- Integrate branding into all design initiatives, collaborating with external branding resources as needed.
- Collaborate with internal USE teams to ensure project deliverables and design solutions are holistic and accurately respond to each project brief and scope.
- Support the coordination of custom RFP responses during the development process that represent USE's brand, culture and heritage.
- Lead RFP scope and deliverable components related to branding, concept development and design.
- Create documents and presentations for scope deliverables.
- Lead design presentations both internally and externally.
- Understand capital project budgets, timelines and opening procedures.
- Manage relationships with external design and branding firms.
- Assist with additional internal and external projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Stay informed and responsive to industry trends and code changes.
- Develop and run creative workshops, internally and externally.
- Analyze and respond to relevant data and feedback.
Qualifications:
Relevant Knowledge, Skills & Ability
- At least five years of hospitality and restaurant design and branding experience.
- Understanding of building code, health code and ADA requirements.
- Understanding of operational requirements (front-of-house & back-of-house).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D modelling software (Rhino or SketchUp), Adobe Creative Suite.

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in architecture or interior design
