Chief Credit Officer Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Lending functions of the bank by providing directive to VPs, AVPs, Lending Officers, Senior Credit Analyst, Crop Insurance Manager.
- Underwrite, originate and service all types of loans.
- Develop and manage the Bank’s annual lending budget. Ensure that budget links to strategic plan/goals.
- Manage loan portfolio for appropriate mix, ensuring profitability without significant risk to the Bank.
- Manage all aspects of bank-wide credit policy, credit administration, and loan review.
- Monitor and communicate rates and terms.
- Develop, implement, communicate, and model a sales and service culture focused on new business development and growth of existing customer relationships.
- Review loan requests, approval within established lending authorities.
- Serve as conduit between lenders and Board of Directors.
- Oversee loan collection, problem credits, and administration of OREO assets.
- Oversee and monitor the loan risk rating system.
- Assist CFO with monitoring loan loss reserves.
- Receive and monitor any Bankruptcy notifications and actions required.
- Monitor and communicate prices on crops and livestock for balance sheet and cash flow purposes.
- Work with BSA Officer on SAR’s and actions on suspicious transactions.
Chief Credit Officer Expectations:
- Perform job accountabilities with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of Internal Service Standards for this department.
- Provide open communication to supervisor and reports.
- Uphold the employment guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook and Supplements.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of compliance and internal control requirements necessary to complete the job.
Education & Experience
- College Degree in Business Administration and/or Finance or equivalent experience.
- Specialized credit training.
- 7-10 years banking background.
- 5-7 years Credit Administration/Loan Review.
