The Vice President of Revenue Cycle is responsible for the oversight and direction of all revenue cycle operations throughout BestSelf Behavioral Health including but not limited to patient access and financial clearance, billing follow-up, accounts receivable management, and cash posting. This position will ensure that all processes are effectively and efficiently managed. Through effective leadership, this position will be responsible for creating and promoting a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement with respect to BestSelf's annual revenue cycle. In addition, this position will provide ongoing support to the Billing, Front End Operations, and Revenue Cycle teams to meet the expectations for high-quality customer services, fiduciary relations, and other established guidelines. Lastly, the position is responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of billing standards as well as federal and state billing regulations in order to ensure the agency follows and maintains compliance.
Required Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
- Must have a minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in healthcare revenue cycle leadership roles and demonstrated success in healthcare revenue cycle processes.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Finance, Accounting Health Care Administration or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare billing, coding, and reimbursement processes.
- Expert understanding of billing Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care organizations, and commercial insurances.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
- Experience using healthcare revenue cycle software and data analytics tools.
- Ability to lead and support a cross-departmental team.
- Ability to build effective relationships throughout all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional time & project management skills.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement vision, business, and operating plans targeted to promote the growth and enhancement of revenue cycle services to meet the needs of the agency.
- Clearly communicate revenue cycle performance expectations to staff to achieve revenue cycle goals in patient services, billing, and collection of services.
- Work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other agency leaders to effectively manage day-to-day operations and develop and execute long-term strategic initiatives.
- Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in all areas of the revenue cycle. The VP of Revenue Cycle must have the ability to identify and implement corrective action regarding the agency's critical revenue cycle needs on a real-time basis.
- Work closely with clinical leadership and office managers to support the revenue cycle processes to support clinical service goals of the organization.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures related to credentialing, insurance verification, billing, collections, coding, and reimbursement practices to achieve efficiency and consistency while driving increased revenue collections.
- Closely collaborates with Finance to monitor and optimize revenue generation and cash collection.
- Minimizing bad debts by engaging stakeholders in robust Denial Management protocols.
- Ensures accurate charge capture and coding compliance for technical and professional services.
- Establishes key performance indicators (KPI's) for measuring revenue cycle performance across the business; Monitors and analyzes performance data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Responsible for all claims submissions to all primary and secondary payers.
- Analyzes and reviews billing requirements to maintain and improve clean claim submission and acceptance, bad debt reduction on a percentage basis, and reducing AR greater than 90 days.
- Champions the use of data analytics to identify trends and opportunities within the revenue cycle, implementing process improvements for sustained financial performance.
- Oversees the enhancement and integration of revenue cycle systems including revenue cycle software, clearinghouses, and technologies to optimize revenue cycle operations and enhance revenue collection.
- Responsible for establishing an efficient and effective end-to-end revenue cycle operation including client registration and scheduling, credentialing, insurance verification, claims submission and payment, and Accounts Receivable and Denial management.
- Monitors the activities of the insurance companies, and assists in the negotiation and maintenance of the insurance contracts.
- Ensures financial systems are maintained and updated to reflect reimbursement rates and contract requirements.
- Maintain broad and current knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulatory and billing requirements, managed care contracting, and reimbursement issues.
- Responsible for ensuring an exceptional client experience as it relates to revenue cycle and front-end operations.
