Generac is seeking an industry-leading senior electrical hardware leader to contribute to Generac’s home standby battery systems. Responsibilities:
- Build a team of electrical engineers and create a culture of design excellence.
- Lead cross-functionally and across disciplines to solve design challenges and implement new processes.
- Drive end-to-end process development, championing Altium 365 tools and advocating for more efficient hardware development.
- Influence the entire company on technical solutions from concept to mass production.
- Create new electrical technologies that outperform competitors in key metrics.
- Foster deep collaboration with cross-functional teams and advocate for a culture of inclusiveness.
- Maintain high standards for design review rigor and find ways to improve first-time quality.
- Identify and create validation and test tool needs to enhance design testing across various levels.
- Lead the development of finished products supporting our home standby battery systems.
- Engage with internal subassemblies and external stakeholders and customers.
- Determine product needs and shape product specifications at a system level.
- Collaborate with software, firmware, and mechanical design engineers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Directly impact product time to market with high internal visibility.
- Absorb product knowledge to achieve product expertise.
- Resolve design pilot and production stage limiters.
- Understand contract manufacturers, part vendors, and assembly capabilities.
- Potentially lead a team of technical engineers in your subject matter expertise.
Minimal Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience including large volume consumer product hardware development.
- 5+ years of experience leading PCB architectures that include mixed signals and power electronics.
- 2+ years of industry leadership experience such as presenting at conferences or participating on a standards body.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication.
- Expert in Altium 365 schematic and layout design tools.
- Expert in circuit modeling using SPICE tools.
- Expert in PCB engineering and compliance standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UL/IEEE/NFPA/ANSI standards.
- Fluent in engineering first principles in firmware/software and mechanical design.
Physical Demands:

On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel may be required.
