Legal Counsel – Regulatory & Litigation is responsible to oversee all litigation and regulatory activities to ensure compliance with requirements. This position will be located in Washington Township, Michigan (USA) and report directly to the Head of Legal Operations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Advise and support business clients to ensure that the regional team has identified and complied with relevant regulations.
- Monitor, advise, and counsel on regulations, regulatory developments and safety-related topics.
- Effectively communicate risks and provide excellent solutions-oriented legal advice to all levels of the Company.
- Participate and potentially lead meetings on safety and reporting topics.
- Work on government interactions for regulatory topics.
- Lead litigation activities for the company.
- Manage outside counsels and budget.
- Compile and report on litigation and quality risks in coordination with Head of Legal.
- Advise on quality issues and related claims.
Education:
- Juris Doctor degree with license to practice law in the State of Michigan required.
Experience and Skill Set:
- Proven experience of a minimum of 10 years as a Legal Counsel in business/automotive environment required.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of regulatory law and related procedures required.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
- Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Business and solution-oriented mindset.
- Energetic, responsive team player who is keen to take initiatives.
- Proactive, organized, and accuracy with attention to detail.
- Cost and time conscious (deadlines).
- Safety conscious and flexible.
- Be able to work in a high dynamic organization and to work under pressure.
- Travel: 0%-30% No regular travel expected but could be necessary domestically/internationally at times.
