What You Will Do
We are seeking an accomplished Director of Engineering with disciplined organization, team motivation, and product development skills to lead the engineering team. In this position, you will manage a tight-knit team of talented engineers in a stable and supportive work environment, where you can quickly see the positive impact of your efforts. You will interact closely with software, hardware, firmware, mechanical, and test teams, supporting program management and production operations activities, to continue widening our performance advantage in leading-edge aviation GPS receivers.
The Director of Engineering is responsible for staffing, recruitment, retention, and training of the engineering teams. The Director assigns and prioritizes engineering personnel and resources to meet the conflicting needs of multiple programs, run by the program management organization. He or she ensures that program management has the support of SMEs to address customer field issues; support customer status meetings and technical exchanges; align customer needs with the TMAS product spec and ICD roadmap; align development proposals with the strategic product vision; and execute engineering development programs. The TMAS products are complex printed circuit board-level embedded systems comprising embedded software, digital circuits, RF, analog, and mechanical subsystems.
- Recruit, train, organize, and retain the engineering development teams.
- Define and streamline the ISO-compliant Product Development Process.
- Software and hardware design assurance processes.
- Configuration control and record management.
- Manage processes supporting transition to production and sustainment throughout product lifecycle.
- Define and manage engineering equipment, software, and outsourcing resource needs.
- Support Program Management generation of quotes for engineering product development and NRE efforts, addressing basis of estimate, resourcing, and scheduling constraints.
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
- BS (MS preferred) in EE, CS, or equivalent with 7 years’ experience managing and leading cross-functional teams developing complex printed circuit board-level products (software, digital circuits, RF, analog, mechanical).
- 5 years managing production lifecycle support: product configuration control, NPI, transition to production, production acceptance test development and support, sustaining engineering.
- Personnel management experience with responsibility for recruitment, retention, training, and organization.
- Experience with formal, audited, development processes.
- Demonstrated excellence in team building and communication of vision; effective written, presentation, and inter-personal communication skills with diverse audiences (engineering teams, customers, executives, partners, suppliers).
- Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required. Applicants must clearly indicate citizenship and any previous DoD security clearance activity.

Trimble provides the following compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. Trimble reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
