This advertisement is for a full-time, Career Service position located at Central Office in the Division of Facilities Management and Building Construction.
Salary: $61,269.78 annually

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
This is a highly advanced position requiring a minimum of six (6) years of experience in the commercial construction field. The position serves as a Subject Matter Expert for new construction and major maintenance repair and renovation projects at institutional facilities Statewide.
- Serve as Team Lead for various plumbing, electrical, cabinetry/carpentry, masonry, HVAC, drywall, roofing, and associated systems necessary to operate a major institution.
- Train correctional institutions General Maintenance staff within the regions.
- Administers construction projects accomplished by Agency personnel and inmate labor.
- Administers construction projects accomplished by Contract.
- Assists with preparing programs for use in developing plans for the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC). Provides professional advice to institutions within FDC and assists with preparing FCO budget requests.
- Participates in the evaluation and selection of Architectural/Engineering (A/E) consultants and Construction Management (CM) firms.
- Administers work for projects that are performed by A/E and CM firms including pay request, invoices, schedule, and plan review.
- Prepares and monitors project schedules, budgets and allocation of funds.
- Travel to various institutions and assist with completing projects throughout the State.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six (6) or more years of professional experience in the construction field OR bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of experience.
- Three (3) or more years of experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to travel overnight up to 50% of time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Florida commercial contractor's license in one or more trades such as General Contracting, Electrical or HVAC Contracting.
- Formal training and/or education on construction management or trades, architecture, or engineering.
- Training and/or experience in the issues related to the Security of inmates and tools on a construction site inside the secure perimeter of an institution.
- Minimum of three (3) or more years of project management.
