Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Small Animal Surgical Services/Anesthesia manager and the Orthopedic Surgery Supervisor and the Advanced Veterinary Surgery Center (AVSC) supervisor, facilitates the scheduling of Orthopedic Surgery patients and manages patient care and client communication within the Orthopedic Surgery Service. This role is responsible for ensuring patient care standards for hospitalized patients, preparing patients for surgery, participating in surgeries as a surgical assistant, circulating in the operating room, and providing anesthesia support, including induction, monitoring, and post-surgical recovery of patients. Additionally, responsibilities include client communication and education, including patient admissions and discharges. This position will rotate between the VMTH and AVSC. Work cooperatively with others to foster strong team commitments towards achieving Surgery services objectives.
Recruitment Period: One month. Applicants will be screened after two weeks and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the apply by date.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) License.
- Must have valid California driver's license.
- No educational requirement.
- Experience with animal restraint and performing venipuncture and placing vascular and urinary catheters.
- Experience in calculating and administering medications intravenously, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or orally.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to engage effectively with diverse students, staff, clinicians, and clients.
- Proficient in identifying and navigating challenging or difficult situations and individuals with tact and professionalism.
- Proficient in administering and maintaining anesthesia, as well as overseeing recovery in veterinary patients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience handling complications of various surgical procedures; anticipating and responding quickly to surgeons and patient's needs.
- Skill to aseptically scrub, gown, and glove.
- Skill to maintain flexibility in continuously changing and fast-paced work environment.
- Skill to work cooperatively with others to foster strong team commitments towards achieving Surgery service objectives.
