University Health Services (UHS) is looking for an experienced Physician Assistant to join our primary care team. As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and support for the student population at UW-Madison. University Health Services (UHS) provides care across multiple clinics: Primary Care clinic, Lakeshore Satellite clinic, Gynecology, Sexual Health, Travel Medicine, and Community Health. This position provides 100% direct clinical care to the UW student population and will operate mainly in the Primary Care clinic.
Responsibilities:
Provides health care services under a collaborative care agreement with physician. Educates patients, develops and evaluates care plans, and prescribes medications and treatments in support of patient health and well-being.
- 40% Assesses, diagnoses, and treats illnesses, and manages chronic health problems
- 15% Develops, implements, collects data, and evaluates health care services as directed by individual care plans
- 20% Develops individualized care plans based on medical assessments in accordance with medical best practices and established rules and regulations
- 15% Educates patients and their support systems on how to manage conditions and to promote the health and well-being of patients and those around them
- 10% May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students
Education:
Required: Bachelor's Degree
Graduated from a Physician Assistant program
Preferred: Master's Degree
Qualifications:
Required:
--2 years post training clinical experience
--Commitment to health promotion and primary care, interest in teaching and training, sensitivity to a diverse student community, and a demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent and sensitive medical services to a racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse population.
--Experience providing clinical assessment and treatment for acute illnesses, injuries, chronic problems, preventive care, and health counseling in an ambulatory setting.
Preferred:
--Experience in evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and office procedures including, but not limited to laceration repair, incision and drainage, skin biopsy, and ingrown toenail removal OR willingness to learn procedures
--Experience in caring for patients with anxiety and depression
--Experience and/or interest in caring for patients with disordered eating
License/Certification:
Required:
PA - Physician Assistant License licensed in the state of Wisconsin or able to obtain WI license prior to start date
Required:
BCLS - Basic Life Support
Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
