DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of patient care. Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Establish and maintain nursing policies and procedures.
- Management of patient care.
- Liaison with all LCMH departments.
- Provide guidance regarding clinical aspects of patient care.
- Responsible for Performance Improvement/ Continuous Quality Improvement Program of patient care.
- Coordinate mandatory LCMH in-services for staff and residents.
- Maintain inventory control.
- Responsible for equipment maintenance.
- Set procedural protocol and standards for all procedures.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- BSN in nursing required, MSN preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience within a health care organization required.
- Current license to practice Nursing in the State of Louisiana or multi-state compact license required.
- Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers, and medical personnel.
- Must be adaptable to change and receptive to delegated responsibilities; A spirit of cooperation, support and understanding for working with the program director, faculty, chief residents and center staff.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time.
- Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergent situations.
- May be required to assist in controlling disorderly conduct or combative patients.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
