WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Water Resources Engineer – Ecosystem Restoration for our Lawrenceville, NJ office. The following locations will also be considered: Philadelphia, PA and Morristown, NJ . Your Impact
- Lead ecosystem restoration design projects that make a positive impact and are improving the environment.
- Design a variety of projects, such as stream and wetland restoration assessment, design and construction support services; dam removal and restoration; watershed feasibility studies and watershed planning.
- Perform professional water resources engineering work and conduct investigations, analysis, and inspections relating to restoration projects, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
- Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
- Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
- Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations.
- Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
- Remain current in latest water resource engineering techniques.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in water resources engineering and ecosystem restoration.
- Knowledge of water resource engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.
- Knowledge of New Jersey Department of Transportation design standards and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Permitting processes is a plus.
- High Competency levels in multiple disciplines including ecosystem restoration, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and stormwater management & best management practice design.
- Experience using various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, StormCAD, Microstation and Civil 3D AutoCAD) is required.
- Proven experience with ArcGIS is a plus.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, strong organizational skills, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Civil Engineer (P.E.) license (NJ preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Master’s degree in water resources or environmental engineering
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.

Compensation
Expected Salary: $83,200 - $145,530
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
