The senior institutional research analyst leads data collection, management, and reporting in support of the institution’s strategic goals and decision-making process. Primary responsibilities include the collection and analysis of data, coordinating the College’s responses to data requests from both internal and external constituents, survey administration and preparation of numerous annual reports. Other duties include designing and implementing research initiatives, surveys, reports and performance indicators as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Serve as the primary custodian of institutional research data and use project management and analytical skills to support any decision-making needs.
- Develop statistical surveys by designing data collection instruments, calculating sample sizes, and selecting appropriate analytical procedures.
- Conduct data analyses, and report results associated with a research study, using statistical analysis software.
- Design and publish ad hoc and recurring reports requested by administrators, for example, College Fact Book, student retention and completion reports by program of study, and comparison of study data with similar data from other institutions.
- Advise principal investigators on the most appropriate statistical techniques to be used in particular projects.
- Responsible for the collection, preparation, and cleanup of data.
- Design and develop reports and data for mandatory and voluntary external reporting requirements and various campus offices.
- Manage a Library of Institutional Research for historical, trend analysis and other research purposes.
- Serve as primary data contact for external reporting agencies included, but not limited to IPEDs, ICUF, US News & World Reports, etc.
- Contribute to the overall success of the office of Institutional Research by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, mathematics, psychology, computer science, or related field is required. (Master’s degree preferred)
- Work experience in a research related field or evidence of experience working with enterprise software, relational databases, quantitative analysis, statistics, and survey design is strongly preferred.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Familiarity with the structure and best practices of data warehouses.
- Experience using SQL to query databases.
- Familiarity with principles of data mining.
- High degree of confidentiality with the ability to exercise judgement and discretion.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a collaborative, transparent and engaging manner.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office suite, PowerBI, and SPSS or R.
- Must possess keen attention to detail, precision in work, adeptness at meeting stringent deadlines, strong oral and written communication skills, professional demeanor, positive demeanor, and commitment to upholding confidentiality and respecting the privacy of information shared.
