Summary of Job Duties:
Schedule: Full-Time, Shift Varies
The Anesthesia Technician assists anesthesia staff before, during, and after procedures requiring anesthesia and answers directly to the SPS/Anesthesia Tech Supervisor. Anesthesia Technicians will work in the UAMS Main and One Day Surgery (ODS) Operating Rooms. The Main OR is a 20-room suite, operational 24/7, and located on the 2nd floor of the Central Hospital. There are 10 endoscopic rooms, 2 laminar flow rooms, 2 DaVinci Robotic rooms and a dedicated endovascular room. It is a fast-paced environment performing state of the art procedures with state-of-the-art equipment. Specialties include: Gynecology, Urology, Orthopedic (total and trauma), Vascular, Cardiovascular (open heart), E.N.T., Plastic/Reconstructive, and General (Kidney and Liver transplant) and Neurosurgery. ODS is an 8-room suite, M-F 0630-1900 and located on the 4th floor of the Outpatient Center. It services primarily outpatient procedures in all services listed above excluding Heart, Vascular and Transplants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED Plus One (1) year of patient care experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Anesthesia Tech experience
- 2 years or more of patient care experience
Additional Information:
Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
Responsibilities:
- Assembly of set-ups and preparing machines and equipment for use
- Performing basic tests of machines and trouble-shooting problems with machines
- Cleaning, replacing tubing, stocking carts and general turn-over of rooms between and after cases
- Performing blood tests
- Taking care of residents and staff needs as a member of the operating room team
- Follows directions and instructions from the Anesthesia staff and the OR coordinator

- Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
