Summary of Job Duties: The Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician assistant will assist surgeon with clinic, organizing visits and performing clinic procedures, assist in the operating room, answer pages and round on post-operative patients on a daily and PRN basis. The APP will be responsible for managing care of outpatients post-operatively, answering telephone inquiries and filling prescriptions. APP must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Physician Studies or Masters Degree in Advanced Practice Nursing
- AR Licensure
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in surgical setting
- Prescriptive authority and DEA license must be obtained after hire
Responsibilities:
- Extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.
- Work autonomously, as well as, in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
- Coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
- Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
- Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
