The Director of Accounting provides leadership to the Property Accountants and Accounts Payable and Receivable team members and oversees the day-to-day property accounting functions of Goldmark. They coordinate the monthly preparation and distribution of property financial statements and budget variance reports. They perform quality control review of properties’ monthly financial statements. The Director of Accounting participates in the completion of annual commercial and residential operating and capital budgets.
Starting salary at $90,000 annually (or more based on experience)!

Job Duties Include:
- Lead the design and implementation of accounting operational policies and procedures.
- Partner with the finance leadership team to develop self-service tools for leaders and team members from idea to implementation, ensuring consistent communication including training and handoff to end user.
- Supervise the daily property accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions. Answer questions and help identify and solve problems.
- Perform Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations on complex commercial properties.
- Participate with the completion of annual commercial and residential operating and capital budgets. Run budget reports and review budget detail at the property level. Assist accountants in preparation of individual property budgets.
- Supervise the completion of monthly and annual property financial statements and related reports. Review completed reports, identify and notify team members of errors, follow up to ensure corrections are made, and review variances to ensure explanations are adequate.
- Ensure the accurate and completion of other accounting related tasks such as preparation of 1099 forms, billing of CAM for commercial properties, quarterly and year-end sales tax reports, review of bank accounts to maximize interest investment, and setting up and monitoring sweep accounts.
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or related field required.
- 3 or more years of leadership experience in managing teams(s) required.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience required.
- CPA or MBA preferred.
- Experience working in an ERP and/or Property Management software systems.
- Strong understanding and experience in managing and analyzing financial statements, budgets and cashflow analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Familiar with federal, state, and jurisdictional laws and regulations concerning multi-family housing, Fair Housing, and team member safety.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, manage time, and have an orientation toward details.
