About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Classification and Compensation Analyst Senior in our Human Resources Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will perform a variety of professional, technical and analytical studies and projects related to VSP’s Classification and Compensation initiatives for civilian and sworn employees; determine compensation of VSP positions and create and respond to salary surveys; design and recommend career progression paths and design and coordinate Employee Rewards and Recognition Programs; complete reports and track metrics; assist with the development of Civilian and Sworn pay strategies; maintain VSP’s Salary Administration Plan (SAP) and General Orders related to Classification and Compensation; maintain and ensure consistent application of VSP’s methods and protocols as well as adherence to applicable State and federal laws, and State and Agency human resources policies; and participate in conducting civilian classification and compensation studies as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of principles, concepts, best practices, and State and federal laws applicable to Human Resources (HR) and position classification and compensation including job analysis and evaluation techniques, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) review, job and organizational design including career progression; of employee engagement and recognition strategies; and of advanced reporting and statistics.
- Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications at an intermediate level to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, laws and regulations; to use appropriate methods, techniques, technology and software to conduct research, gather, evaluate and analyze data, reach logical conclusions, and present findings in a concise format; to provide recommendations on the development of policies, procedures, and improvements to HR processes; to conduct and respond to salary surveys; to write qualitative and quantitative reports and summaries; to conduct training on HR topics as needed; to consult with managers, supervisors, and employees on a variety of HR issues; to address difficult situations in a constructive manner; to exercise good judgment, discretion and confidentiality; to prioritize work and use initiative to accomplish projects; to work independently and as part of a team; and to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English with diverse individuals and groups.

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
